Help & FAQ

Everything you need to know about buying, selling, and building on Kabuzz.

🚀
Getting Started
What is Kabuzz?

Kabuzz is the first AI-native resale marketplace. It's built from the ground up for both humans and AI agents to buy and sell pre-owned goods. Think of it like eBay or Mercari, but designed for the AI era—where your AI assistant can list items for you, find deals, and even make purchases on your behalf.

For sellers, you upload a few photos and the AI writes a professional listing in seconds. For buyers, you browse like any marketplace, or let an AI agent shop for you automatically.

How is Kabuzz different from eBay, Mercari, or Poshmark?

Three big differences:

1. AI-native. Kabuzz was built for AI agents from day one. Other platforms bolt AI features onto human-first infrastructure. On Kabuzz, an AI agent can list, buy, and manage inventory via API in seconds.

2. Way lower fees. Kabuzz charges about 6.5% total (3% seller + 3.5% buyer service fee (min $0.99)). Compare that to eBay (12-13%), Mercari (10%), or Poshmark (20%).

3. Speed. Upload photos, add a sentence or two, and AI handles the rest—title, description, category, pricing. A listing that takes 15 minutes on eBay takes 15 seconds here.

How do I create an account?

Click "Sign In" in the top right corner. You can sign up with your Google account (one click) or create a Kabuzz account with your email and a password. Both options are free and take about 10 seconds.

Your account starts as a Buyer. When you're ready to sell, you'll go through a quick seller verification process (more on that below).

Is Kabuzz free to use?

Yes. There are no monthly subscriptions, no listing fees, and no account fees. You only pay when a transaction happens: sellers pay a 3% commission on the sale price, and buyers pay a 3.5% service fee (min $0.99) at checkout. That's it.

What can I sell on Kabuzz?

Most pre-owned physical goods: electronics, collectibles, sporting goods, home goods, tools, clothing, toys, books, and more. Kabuzz is a general-purpose resale marketplace.

What you can't sell: Certain high-counterfeiting-risk luxury brands (Rolex, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, etc.) are restricted at launch. Illegal items, hazardous materials, weapons, drugs, and anything prohibited by our Terms of Service are not allowed.

Selling on Kabuzz
How do I become a seller?

Go to the Sell page and click "Start Selling." You'll be guided through Stripe's identity verification process, which collects basic information to verify your identity and set up your payment account. This is required by law for anyone receiving payments and typically takes 2-3 minutes.

Once verified, your account is upgraded to Seller status and you can start listing immediately.

How do I create a listing?

Go to the List an Item page. Upload 4-5 photos and add a brief description (even one sentence works). Our AI engine (powered by Google Gemini Vision) analyzes your photos and generates a full professional listing including:

  • A compelling title and detailed description
  • Category and condition assessment
  • Fair market price estimate based on comparable sales
  • Estimated weight and dimensions for shipping

Review the AI-generated content, adjust anything you want, set your price, and publish. Most listings go live in under 30 seconds.

How does pricing work? Do I have to use the AI's suggested price?

No. The AI suggests a price based on comparable items, but you always set the final price. The suggestion is a starting point—you can go higher or lower based on your own knowledge of the item's value, condition, and rarity.

When do I get paid after a sale?

Your earnings go through a pipeline with four stages:

1. Ship It — The order is paid. Ship the item within the deadline shown on your order page (typically 3 business days).

2. In Transit — You've shipped the item and tracking is active. The buyer is notified of tracking updates automatically.

3. On Hold — The item has been delivered. Funds are held for a short period to allow the buyer to report any issues. The hold duration depends on your Trust Tier (see below).

4. Available — The hold period has expired. Funds are released to your Stripe account and will be paid out on your next Stripe payout cycle (typically 2 business days to your bank).

You can track exactly where your money is on the Dashboard tab of your account page under "Your Money Pipeline."
What are Trust Tiers and how do they affect my payouts?

Trust Tiers determine how long funds are held after delivery before being released to you. New sellers start at the "New" tier and progress as they build transaction history:

TierHold PeriodHow to Reach
New7 daysDefault for all new sellers
Basic5 daysA few successful transactions with no disputes
Established3 daysConsistent selling history with positive outcomes
Trusted1 dayHigh-volume seller with excellent track record

The hold period protects buyers. As you prove yourself reliable, holds get shorter and you get paid faster.

How much does Kabuzz take from my sale?

Kabuzz charges a 3% seller commission on the item price. That's it. For a $100 item, you'd receive $97 (minus any shipping label costs if Kabuzz bought the label for you).

The buyer pays a separate 3.5% service fee (min $0.99) on top of the purchase price—it does not come out of your earnings.

What is Auto-Ship and how do I set it up?

Auto-Ship is a feature that automatically purchases a shipping label the moment an item sells. Instead of going through the shipping flow manually, you just print the label and drop the package at the post office.

To set it up, go to Account → Settings → Seller Shipping Settings:

  • Turn on the Auto-Ship toggle
  • Select your Carrier Preference (Cheapest Overall, Cheapest USPS, Cheapest UPS, Cheapest FedEx, or Fastest Delivery)
  • Make sure you have a Ship-From Address saved

The label cost is deducted from your sale proceeds. Your tracking number is automatically shared with the buyer.

Can I use my own shipping labels instead of Kabuzz's?

Yes. In Seller Shipping Settings, select "I'll Ship It Myself" as your carrier preference. When an item sells, you'll ship it with whatever carrier and service you prefer and enter the tracking number manually.

Important: When you ship on your own, the buyer is charged the lowest shipping rate from our API. If your actual shipping cost is higher than that rate, you cover the difference. If it's lower, you keep the savings.
What happens if I don't ship an item on time?

Each order has a ship-by deadline (typically 3 business days). If you don't ship by the deadline, the order may be automatically cancelled and the buyer refunded. Repeated late shipments can affect your Trust Tier.

If you have unshipped orders, you'll see a persistent amber banner at the top of every page on Kabuzz reminding you to ship them.

Can I edit or delete a listing after publishing?

Yes. Go to Account → My Listings, find the listing, and click Edit or Archive. You can update the price, description, photos, and other details at any time while the listing is live. If an item is sold or reserved, you can't edit it.

Buying on Kabuzz
How do I buy something?

Browse listings at kabuzz.com/browse. When you find something you want, click into the listing, enter your zip code to see shipping rates, select a shipping option, and check out with your payment method. We accept credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link by Stripe.

What payment methods are accepted?

Kabuzz uses Stripe for all payment processing. You can pay with:

  • Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • Link (Stripe's one-click checkout)

You can save payment methods to your account for faster checkout. Saved cards are stored securely by Stripe—Kabuzz never sees or stores your full card number.

What is the buyer service fee?

A 3.5% service fee (min $0.99) is added at checkout on top of the item price. This covers payment processing costs and platform services. It applies to all orders regardless of payment method.

For example, on a $50 item with $5.99 shipping, the service fee would be $1.75 (3.5% of $50), making your total $57.74.

How do I track my order?

Go to Account → Orders and click on your order. You'll see the tracking number, carrier, and a link to track the package. You'll also receive email notifications when the item ships, when it's in transit, and when it's delivered.

Can I make an offer below the listed price?

Yes. Kabuzz supports an offer/negotiation system. On a listing page, click "Make an Offer" and submit your price. The seller can accept, decline, or counter. If they accept, the transaction proceeds at the agreed price.

What if I receive a damaged or incorrect item?

You have a dispute window during the hold period after delivery. Go to your order page and open a dispute. Provide photos and a description of the issue. Kabuzz will review the dispute and can issue a full or partial refund.

Funds are not released to the seller until the hold period expires, so you're protected as long as you report issues promptly.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Kabuzz is a marketplace for pre-owned goods. Buyer's remorse returns are generally not supported—this is consistent with how resale marketplaces work. Refunds are available for items that are significantly not as described, damaged in shipping, or never arrive.

Is local pickup available?

If the seller has enabled local pickup and you're within range (based on zip code proximity), you'll see a "Local Pickup" option at checkout with no shipping charge. Coordinate the pickup details with the seller through the messaging system.

Total buyer + seller burden is approximately 6.5%—significantly lower than any major resale platform.

How does the fee breakdown work on an actual sale?

Example: $75 item with $7.50 shipping

Line ItemAmount
Item price$75.00
Shipping$7.50
Buyer service fee (3.5% of $75)$2.63
Buyer pays total$85.13
Seller commission (3% of $75)-$2.25
Shipping label (if Kabuzz label)-$7.50
Seller receives$72.75
How and when do sellers get paid?

Seller payouts are processed through Stripe. After the hold period expires (1-7 days after delivery, depending on your Trust Tier), funds are released to your connected Stripe account. Stripe then deposits the money to your linked bank account, typically within 2 business days.

You can view your payout history and upcoming payouts in the Payouts tab of your account page, or by accessing your Stripe Express Dashboard.

Why don't I see money in my Stripe Dashboard right away?

For buyer protection, funds are held on the Kabuzz platform until the item is delivered and the hold period expires. Your Stripe Express Dashboard will show $0 until funds are actually transferred to your account.

To see where your money is in the pipeline, go to your Dashboard tab on the Account page. The "Your Money Pipeline" section shows exactly how much is at each stage: awaiting shipment, in transit, on hold, and available.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The 3% seller commission and 3.5% buyer service fee (min $0.99) are the only platform fees. There are no listing fees, no monthly fees, no promotion fees, and no withdrawal fees. Shipping costs are separate and clearly shown at checkout.

What are the seller payout tiers?

Payout timing depends on your seller tier:

Seller TierPayout After DeliveryHow to Get There
New2–3 business daysYou start here
Basic1–2 business days30+ days, 3+ sales
Established1 business day90+ days, 10+ sales
TrustedSame day180+ days, 25+ sales

Every seller starts at New. The more you sell, the faster you get paid.

Why is there a hold period?

The hold period protects everyone. It gives buyers time to inspect their purchase and raise any issues. It gives sellers protection against fraudulent claims. And it gives Kabuzz time to mediate if something goes wrong. As your track record grows, the hold shrinks because the trust is proven.

Is my money safe?

Yes. All payments are processed and held by Stripe, one of the largest payment processors in the world. Kabuzz never has direct access to your funds. When your payout is released, it goes straight from Stripe to your bank account.

Can I get paid faster?

Sell more, sell well. Every completed sale with no disputes moves you closer to the next tier. Sellers who maintain low dispute rates and consistent sales history get the fastest payouts.

📦
Shipping
How does shipping work on Kabuzz?

When a buyer enters their zip code, Kabuzz fetches real-time shipping rates from USPS, UPS, and FedEx via our shipping partner Shippo. The buyer selects their preferred shipping option at checkout.

After the sale, the seller either purchases a discounted shipping label through Kabuzz (one click), has Auto-Ship purchase it automatically, or ships with their own label and enters tracking manually.

What carriers are available?

USPS, UPS, and FedEx. Rates are fetched in real time based on the item's weight, dimensions, and origin/destination zip codes. Available services include everything from USPS First Class and Priority to UPS Ground and FedEx Home Delivery.

Are Kabuzz shipping labels cheaper than buying directly?

Kabuzz labels use Shippo's commercial rates, which are generally lower than retail counter rates. A flat $1.00 label service fee is added per label. In most cases, this is still significantly cheaper than buying a label at the post office or UPS Store.

How long do I have to ship an item after it sells?

Orders have a ship-by deadline, typically 3 business days from the sale. You'll see the exact deadline on the order detail page. If you have unshipped orders, a persistent banner appears across the site reminding you to ship.

Do buyers get tracking updates?

Yes. Buyers receive email notifications when the item ships (with tracking number), when it's scanned and in transit, and when it's delivered. They can also check tracking status on the order page at any time.

Can I void or cancel a shipping label?

If a label was purchased through Kabuzz and hasn't been scanned by the carrier yet, you can request a void. If an order is cancelled, Kabuzz automatically attempts to void any associated label before processing the refund.

🛡
Trust & Safety
How does Kabuzz verify sellers?

Every seller goes through Stripe's identity verification (KYC — Know Your Customer). This means every seller on Kabuzz is a verified real person with a confirmed identity. Even if an AI agent lists items on a seller's behalf, there's always a verified human behind it.

For high-value sellers or flagged accounts, Kabuzz may require enhanced verification including government ID and selfie matching via Stripe Identity.

How are buyers protected?

Multiple layers of protection:

  • Payment hold: Seller funds are not released until after delivery and a hold period, giving you time to inspect the item and report issues
  • Dispute process: If an item isn't as described, didn't arrive, or arrived damaged, you can open a dispute during the hold period
  • Identity verification: Every seller is verified through Stripe KYC
  • AI fraud detection: Suspicious listings (expensive item + new seller + generic description) are flagged for review
  • Stripe's fraud tools: Stripe Radar monitors all transactions for payment fraud
How does the dispute process work?

If you receive an item that's not as described or is damaged, go to your order page and open a dispute during the hold period. Provide photos and a description of the issue. Kabuzz reviews the dispute and can issue a full or partial refund from the held funds.

Valid dispute reasons include: item not as described, item damaged in shipping, item never arrived (tracking shows no delivery), or counterfeit/fake item.

"I changed my mind" or "I didn't like it" are generally not valid dispute reasons for pre-owned goods.

Are there restricted or prohibited items?

Restricted at launch (high counterfeiting risk): Rolex, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, and other luxury brands in our restricted list. These categories may open later with enhanced authentication.

Prohibited: Illegal items, weapons, drugs, hazardous materials, recalled products, counterfeit goods, stolen property, and anything else listed in our Terms of Service.

How does Kabuzz prevent fraud?

We use a multi-layered approach: mandatory seller identity verification, AI-powered listing review that flags suspicious patterns, payment hold periods, Stripe Radar for payment fraud detection, Trust Tiers that reward good behavior, and category restrictions on high-risk items. Every transaction traces back to a verified human, which fundamentally limits the ability to create throwaway scam accounts.

AI Agents & Developers
What does "AI-native" mean? How do AI agents work on Kabuzz?

Kabuzz's API was designed for AI agents as the primary interface. An AI agent can:

  • List items: Upload photos + description via POST /api/v1/listings and the AI engine handles the rest
  • Search and discover: Query listings with filters, full-text search, and structured data
  • Purchase items: Buy using saved payment methods via POST /api/v1/purchase — no browser or UI needed
  • Manage inventory: Update prices, relist items, check order status, track shipments

Every major AI framework (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) can integrate with Kabuzz in minutes. See our API documentation for details.

How do I create an API key for my AI agent?

Go to Account → AI Agents and click "Create Agent Key." Each key can be scoped:

  • Buy-only: Agent can search and purchase but not list items
  • Sell-only: Agent can list items but not make purchases
  • Both: Full buy and sell access

Keys can be revoked instantly at any time. Include the key as a Bearer token in the Authorization header of your API requests.

What are spending controls?

Spending controls let you set limits on what your AI agent can spend. Think of it like expense limits on a corporate credit card. You can configure:

  • Per-transaction limit: Maximum amount for a single purchase (default: $100)
  • Daily cap: Maximum total spending per day (default: $500)
  • Weekly cap: Maximum total spending per week (default: $2,000)
  • Monthly cap: Maximum total spending per month (default: $5,000)
  • Category restrictions: Limit purchases to specific categories
  • Kill switch: Instantly disable all agent purchases

Every agent-initiated transaction is checked against your spending controls before any money moves. If a purchase would exceed a limit, it's rejected.

Who is responsible for transactions made by my AI agent?

You are. When you create an agent key, you accept the Agent Authorization Agreement. This establishes that you are solely responsible for all transactions your agent executes on your behalf. Kabuzz is not liable for agent actions.

Transactions within your configured spending controls are considered authorized. "I didn't want my AI to buy that" is not valid grounds for a refund if the purchase was within the spending controls you set up. This is similar to how corporate expense card programs work.

Set conservative spending controls when you're first getting started with agent purchases, and increase them as you gain confidence in your agent's behavior.
How do AI agents make purchases without a browser?

AI agents use saved payment methods (credit/debit cards you've added to your account) combined with Stripe's off-session PaymentIntents. This is the same technology Uber and Lyft use to charge your card without you opening the app for each ride.

Your agent sends a POST /api/v1/purchase request with the listing ID and your agent token. The system checks your spending controls, creates a Stripe payment using your default saved card, and completes the transaction—all via API, no UI required.

Is there a rate limit on the API?

The API is rate-limited to prevent abuse. Standard limits are generous enough for normal agent operation. If you're building a high-volume integration, contact us to discuss your use case. See the API docs for specific rate limit details.

Can my AI agent list items on my behalf?

Yes. An agent with sell permissions can upload photos and a description via the API, and the same AI listing engine that powers the web interface will generate the full listing. The listing appears under your verified seller account—all agent-created listings are attributed to their human owner.

You need to be a verified seller (completed Stripe identity verification) before your agent can list items.

Where can I find the full API documentation?

Full API documentation is at kabuzz.com/docs. It covers authentication, listing creation, search, purchasing, order management, shipping, webhooks, and more. There's also an agent skill definition that AI agents can read to understand how to interact with Kabuzz.

Account & Settings
How do I change my password?

Go to Account → Settings → Account Information. If you signed up with a Google account, you can add a password there to enable email/password login alongside Google sign-in.

How do I update my shipping address?

Go to Account → Settings → Ship-From Address and click Edit. This address is used as the return address on shipping labels and for calculating shipping rates on your listings.

How do I manage my saved payment methods?

Go to Account → Payment Methods. You can add new cards, remove existing ones, and set your default payment method. Your default card is used for AI agent purchases and one-click checkout.

Card data is stored securely by Stripe. Kabuzz never sees or stores your full card number.

How do I configure notification preferences?

Go to Account → Settings. You can control email notifications for offers, orders, messages, and watched items. If you're a developer, you can also set up a webhook URL to receive real-time notifications via HTTP POST.

Can I have both buyer and seller roles?

Yes. Once you complete seller verification, your account role becomes "Both" and you can buy and sell freely on the same account. Most active users are both buyers and sellers.

How do I access my Stripe seller dashboard?

If you're a verified seller, you'll see a "Stripe Dashboard" button on your account page (in the green Seller Verified banner). This opens Stripe's Express Dashboard where you can manage your bank account, view payouts, and update your Stripe settings.

How do I delete my account?

Contact us to request account deletion. Any pending orders must be completed or cancelled before your account can be removed. Your listing history and transaction records may be retained for legal and financial compliance purposes.
